Hannah Green becomes the first female golfer to win a mixed tournament

Winner of the US LPGA in 2019, her only Major, Green, 25, 30 in the world, started the last round tied with Andrew Evans, Matthew Millar and Blake Collyer.

By returning a card of 66, the Australian, who has already won eight professional tournaments, did better than her male rivals and finished 20 strokes under par, at Cobram Barooga Golf Club.

“It’s weird. I rarely have dreams around golf, but I had one last night and saw myself winning”she reacted after her historic victory.

The TPS Murray River is part of a series of Australian tournaments launched in 2021, with women and men playing under identical conditions, save their tee positions, but only one trophy.

After her victory a week earlier in the Vic Open, Green initially thought of returning home to Perth, but then she changed her mind. “Things happen for a reason, so I’m really happy that I made it.”
