Honus Wagner’s Baseball HOF induction watch

Honus Wagner’s Baseball HOF induction watch

Legendary infielder Honus Wagner was one of the first members of the Baseball Hall of Fame, entering along with fellow immortals Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, Christy Mathewson and Babe Ruth. While technically part of the Class of 1936, Wagner received this Gruen Curvex on June 12, 1939 at the Hall’s dedication. It is one of eleven such examples, one for every living player who attended the event. Considered one of the three most desirable – alongside Cobb and Ruth – it bears an inscription on the caseback that reads “Presented to Honus Wagner, Hall of Famer, Baseball Centennial, 1839-1939 “. Although the hand-wound movement still seems to work, the watch probably needs servicing, but it’s still a very rare baseball memorabilia.
