Thijs Oosting is happy that he has decided to exchange AZ for Willem II. The attacking midfielder made his debut on behalf of the Tricolores with two goals against RKC Waalwijk, the club where he once played and where his father is now a trainer.
Oosting wanted to play an attacking role and knew that was not possible at AZ. “I was left back at training sessions and felt that it was not going to be him anymore,” he tells Voetbal International . “When the right back came in first as left back, I knew enough. I was actually the third left back, at a certain point you have to think about yourself. Had I been second choice, I might have continued, but this gave little view.”
Willem II gave the 21-year-old midfielder the opportunity to play an attacking role. He grabbed that opportunity with both hands. “I was ready at AZ and that sounds more negative than it is. I had played the Eredivisie and wanted more. That was not possible there, you can see that coming. I did not want to go back to Jong. had a good six months in the Eredivisie at RKC, then it is time for the next step.”
