LE SCAN SPORT – Roman Yaremchuk received a heartfelt tribute from the Estadio de la Luz when he came on for Benfica against Vitoria Guimaraes on Sunday. The Ukrainian striker could not hold back his tears on the lawn.
This Sunday, Benfica won easily 3-0 on their lawn against Vitoria Guimaraes, thanks in particular to a double from Darwin Nunez. On the hour mark, the double scorer of the day gave way to Roman Yaremchuk. The entry on the lawn of the Ukrainian striker was accompanied by a magnificent ovation from the Lisbon public.

Overwhelmed by emotion while his country is at war, the Ukrainian striker could not hold back his tears during his first steps on the lawn. Ukrainian flags were visible in the stands. Messages “Ukraine, we are with you” were also chanted by the supporters.
As a symbol, Jan Vertonghen, then still on the lawn, approached his teammate to give him the captain’s armband. On social networks, Roman Yaremchuk wanted to thank the public for this tribute.
