The Alfa Romeo team is quite an odd one out in Barcelona. The Swiss racing stable is the only one that has not yet officially presented the new car and in addition, they also drive laps in a mysterious camouflage color scheme. The team seems to want to hide in mist during the first week of testing.
Everything is different at the team this year, especially in terms of drivers a lot has changed. Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi have left and are replaced by Valtteri Bottas and debutant Guanyu Zhou. Remarkably enough, newcomer Zhou will only take action for the first time tomorrow, reserve driver Robert Kubica was allowed to kick off the test week yesterday. However, this is not the only special act of the Swiss team.
Hide
It seems that Alfa Romeo is doing everything it can to hide something. After all, they drive around in camouflage colors, but that’s not the only mysterious point. According to photographers from the German Auto, Motor und Sport, the Alfa mechanics form a human wall around the car as soon as it is inside. According to the AMuS photographers, Alfa Romeo is the only team that works this way. So it seems that they are trying to hide something from the outside world.
Misery
For the time being, the possible cleverness has not yet been really tested. Alfa Romeo is currently having a disastrous start to the first week of testing. Yesterday they were indoors more than they were on the track and today too there is misery in abundance. Bottas got in today but mostly he had to wait. There were again problems with the car which meant that he could only make very few meters on the track.
