At the beginning of February, Jannik Sinner tested positive for the corona virus. So it was clear that he would have to sit out for an indefinite period. After having to withdraw from Rotterdam, the South Tyrolean has now also announced that he will not be playing at the ATP 250 tournament in Marseille next week.
This has not (yet) had any consequences for Sinner in the world rankings. Pole Hubert Hurkacz, in 11th place, would have had the opportunity to pass Sextner (ATP 10) this week, but the 25-year-old surprisingly failed in the round of 16 in Rotterdam at Lorenzo Musetti.
When exactly Sinner will return cannot be said at this point in time. In 10 days he is registered for the ATP 500 tournament in Dubai. This is followed by qualifying for the Davis Cup (March 4th and 5th) against Slovakia and the Masters tournament in Indian Wells (March 7th-20th).
