American tennis star Jennifer Brady has revealed she is a huge fan of Rafael Nadal and is happy the Spaniard is the first player to achieve a record 21 Australian Open table, Djokovic still risks expulsion”>Grand Slam titles.
Djokovic won the first three Grand Slams of the 2021 season to equal Nadal and Roger Federer on the list of all-time Grand Slam records with 20 Majors. Djokovic didn’t get a chance to play at the Australian Open this year and Nadal took the opportunity to win a 21st Grand Slam.
“I know, it’s hard to believe. Everyone would have thought that Novak would be the first to reach 21, but I’m happy it’s Rafa, I’m a huge Rafa fan. I love him and that’s one of my idols.
So I’m happy to see he’s in Acapulco playing,” Brady told Tennis Channel as quoted by Sportskeeda.
Djokovic and the Australian Open
Nadal recovered from two sets down in the Australian Open final to beat Daniil Medvedev.
“It wasn’t easy for me to watch the final, I had to because of the circumstances at home, even though I didn’t want to watch it. My wife and son were watching.
I didn’t see the whole game, we also did other things at home. I was I didn’t want to be too emotionally involved, I wanted to be on the court,” Djokovic told RTS.
Djokovic remained respectful when asked if the result would have been different with him in the Australian Open draw. “Nothing in life is guaranteed, but considering everything, I had my chances in Australia this year.
I feel like I’m in my garden, on the Rod Laver Arena. Out of respect for Rafael Nadal who won and for all the other players, I dare not say that I would have won, but I think I had a good chance,” Djokovic said.
