Thirteen-year-old Célia Azzini, a dedicated member of the Lectoure Judo Club since 2012, has been making waves in the judo world. Despite the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which halted competitions for nearly two years, Célia’s commitment to the sport never wavered.
Training resumed in September 2021, with sessions held in Lectoure and Francescas.Célia’s remarkable performance as then speaks volumes about her dedication and talent.
Her journey back to competition began with a strong showing at the 2019 Critérium régional d’Occitanie in Mèze, where she reached the finals.In 2021, Célia secured victory at the Raymond soucaret Cup in Francescas, demonstrating her prowess on the mat.This success was followed by a first-place finish at the Occitanie label animation grand prize in Auch, further solidifying her position as a rising star.
The new year brought even more triumphs for Célia. She dominated the minimal departmental cup in Condom, securing first place and earning a spot in the minimal selection (Occitanie semi-finals) in Tarbes. There, she fought valiantly, finishing second and qualifying for the finals.
Célia’s impressive run continued with a second-place finish at the Occitanie Cup in Toulouse, earning her the title of Occitanie vice-champion in the -48 kg category. This remarkable achievement qualified her for the prestigious French Cup, held in Villebon sur Yvette at the end of March.
Adding to her already impressive resume, Célia participated in the international tournament in saint-Cyprien during the last weekend of February, showcasing her skills on a global stage.
