Independiente did not close the game well and Jujeños took the win 71-70 in a heart-stopping finale. The scorer of the day was Juan José Morales with 18 points.
At the beginning, the Jujuy fusion opened the scoring with a triple by Rafael Vitancor, but a few seconds later Benjamín López and Lorenzo Jarma attacked the rim to give the local team a slight advantage. The game became locked with collective fouls for both teams. At the last minute, Ignacio Ávila and Marcos Maidana added for the visit and went to the break 11 to 16.
In the second quarter, Independiente looked for intensity in their defenses with the Palavecino brothers, Ignacio and Rodrigo. However, Jujuy Básquet managed to be effective thanks to Juan José Morales, who managed the time in the visitor’s offense. He closed this period 38 to 33 in favor of Jujeños.
In the complement, those led by Juan Carlos Morales knew how to dominate the match as planned in the previous scouting, although the hoop was closed for both teams. For its part, Gerardo Torres Ahumada’s cast did not manage the effectiveness they achieved in the previous match against Olimpico de La Banda, and they only got a few points (13-15) with a partial of 46 to 53 for the visit.
In the last ten minutes, it seemed to be all Jujuy with good attacks from Vitancor, Marcos Maidana and Nicolás Díaz from the perimeter shot. However, the strong defense that “Rojo” had made it possible to shorten the score and be one point away in the end, but the Tucuman team could not close it and the victory was left for the visit by 71 to 70.
