Kristoffersen Claims Victory in Garmisch-Partenkirchen Slalom
Norwegian skier Henrik Kristoffersen secured a dominant victory in the men’s slalom event at the FIS alpine Ski World Cup in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. This win marks kristoffersen’s second slalom victory of the season, solidifying his position as a top contender in the discipline.Despite the absence of strong competitors like Loic Meillard and Johannes Strolz, who were unable to finish the race, Kristoffersen remained focused and delivered a powerful performance. He expressed satisfaction with his result, attributing his success to dedicated training and a slight adjustment in technique.
“I’m pleased with the outcome,” Kristoffersen stated. “While I didn’t anticipate winning twice,I’m happy with my performance. I’ve been training hard and made some minor adjustments to my technique, which seem to be paying off.”
Kristoffersen’s victory was aided by the early exit of Tanguy Nef, the fastest skier in the first run, who failed to qualify for the final race. Meillard, another Swiss skier, held a significant lead after the first run but faltered in the second, ultimately finishing outside the top ten.
The slalom season continues with two more races scheduled for March 9th in Flachau, Austria, and eleven days later at the World Championships in Courchevel, France.Race results:
Kristoffersen’s winning time was 1:52.66, with a margin of 0.35 seconds over British skier Dave Ryding. Linus Strasser of Germany secured third place, 0.47 seconds behind Kristoffersen.

Kristoffersen currently leads the slalom standings with 356 points, followed by compatriot Lucas Braathen with 307 points.Linus Strasser sits in third place with 278 points.
In the overall World Cup standings, Marco Odermatt of Switzerland maintains a commanding lead with 1200 points, followed by Kristoffersen with 825 points.

Ingrid: Absolutely, two wins already demonstrate fantastic consistency. Kristoffersen has always been a force to be reckoned with in slalom, but seeing him so dominant this season is truly impressive. His dedication to training is evident in his performances, and that slight adjustment he mentioned probably made a world of difference.
You mentioned consistency. His rivals Meillard and Strolz weren’t able to finish, did that contribute to Kristoffersen’s win?
Ingrid: While it certainly helps to have your main competitors facing challenges,it doesn’t diminish Kristoffersen’s achievement. Ski racing is unpredictable. Anything can happen, and a top athlete knows you have to seize those opportunities. Kristoffersen didn’t just benefit from others’ misfortune; he capitalized on it by delivering a stellar performance.
Many fans are eager to see Kristoffersen challenge Marco Odermatt for the overall World Cup title. Do you think he has a chance?
Ingrid: Odermatt is a phenomenal skier, and right now, he’s in the driver’s seat with that important points lead. Kristoffersen’s focus on slalom will likely continue as he aims for the World Championship title. It’s going to be a close battle for the but Kristoffersen’s recent form makes it an even more exciting race to watch.
With two more slalom races and the World Championship coming up, Kristoffersen has a crucial month ahead.What do you think is the key to his success moving forward?
Ingrid: Maintaining that focus and consistency is paramount. Kristoffersen needs to keep his head in the game, trust his training, and execute his races with precision. The pressure will be on, especially with those World Championship hopes, but I believe Kristoffersen has the mental fortitude to handle it.
