Bad defeat for Camila Giorgi in the first round of the WTA 500 in Dubai. The blue (# 29 in the world) is been defeated sharply from Petra Kvitova (# 25 in the ranking) for 6-2 6-0 in just an hour and ten of play. The Czech will face in the round of 16 the winner of the match between the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka (seeded # 1) e l’ucraina Marta Kostyuk (n.49 del ranking).
Kvitova leaves immediately strong and, after having stolen the Italian break, leads to 2-0. Our standard bearer tries to unlock with the game of 2-1, but then continues to make too many mistakes and the Czech takes the opportunity to quickly fly to 5-1. The 5-2 of Giorgi is useless and the number 25 in the world easily conquers the first set per 6-2.
If the first set was not very balanced, the second is even worse. Giorgi never really gets into the game and for Kvitova becomes even easier. The blue wastes the only counterbreak chances that happen to them (one on 3-0 and two on 5-0) and the the consequence is an easy 6-0 that leaves no room for comments.
Why Jannik Sinner and Riccardo Piatti separate: failure to participate in the Olympics is crucial
At the end of the game the differences in the service confirm the domination of Kvitova: the number 25 in the world closes with a good 70% of points won with the first, against 52% of the blue, and with 56% of points obtained with the second, against the very low 26% of the Italian. The total points won by the two tennis players are 61 for the Czech and 36 for the Italian.
