NBA BASKETBALL
Los Angeles (USA), Feb 12 (EFE).- LeBron James became the top scorer in NBA history this Saturday if the points achieved in the regular season are added to those from the playoff games.
The official NBA record takes into account only regular season games and there the king is still Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387 points) ahead of Karl Malone (36,928 points) and LeBron James (36,500 points before starting the day of today).
However, the difference between Abdul-Jabbar and LeBron was much smaller if you added the regular season points with the points earned in the title playoffs.
Thus, Abdul-Jabbar had 44,149 points in that classification and LeBron 44,131 before playing today against the Golden State Warriors.
With only 19 points to achieve to break the record, it was predictable that the Lakers star would achieve it on his visit to the Golden State Warriors court and at halftime he already had 18 points.
After the break, LeBron outpointed Abdul-Jabbar with a 3-pointer with 7:06 remaining in the third quarter.
At 37 years old and with 19 seasons behind him, “King James” continues to amaze the NBA with an exceptional level of play and this season he is averaging 29.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game.
Instead, his Lakers are being one of the big disappointments of the season and, before starting Saturday’s games, they were ninth in the Western Conference with 26 wins and 30 losses.
