8 athletes from the Sánchez-Élez de Leganés School have qualified for the national championship, the O-Charlies Orienteering Club won 5 medals and the Athletics Club broke records.
The base sport of Leganés has a great representation in different teams and clubs achieving very good results. From Leganés Activo we want to make room for all the sporting achievements by reviewing what happened this weekend.
The Athletics Club breaks records
This weekend has started with very good news for the Leganés Athletics Club from Valencia, where Edu Calleja has been proclaimed champion of Spain triple jump in the Master M55 category with 12.28 meters in length.
Meanwhile, in the Madrid championship held in Vallehermoso, Rubén Scurtu won the bronze in hammer throw with a mark of 40.55 meters.

Two big news were yet to come: two athletes smashed two records in their categories on Sunday. The 60-meter sprint by Maitane Carbonero with a mark of 8″04 and the discus throw by Sofía Pérez, who sent the device up to 17.60 m.
Eight taekwondists from Leganés, to the Spanish Championship junior
After proclaiming themselves champions of Madrid, in the senior categories, yesterday Saturday the Sánchez Élez led by the master José Martín del Campo “Xixo” won first place in the junior category thanks to the 10 athletes who star in this new project. “Working from humility and surrounded by a brand new technical staff, we outlined a new project from its quarry”, indicates the teacher Xixo.
In the competition 6 golds were obtained (-59kg Mario Arroyo, -63kg Daniel Corvillo, -73kg César Cedrún, -46kg Perla Santamaría, -59kg Andrea García-Huete, +68kg Irene Paños), 3 silvers (55kg Luna Martín del Campo, -59kg Valeria Yuste, -55kg Domingo Sánchez) and a bronze (-68kg. Miguel Márquez). Eight of these ten competitors will defend the interests of Madrid in the next Spanish Junior Championship, to be held in Jaén (Andalusia), the first weekend of March. Those who obtained gold have been classified automatically while the Federation must decide which two silvers are finally classified.

Demanding weekend in the Spanish Orienteering League that has celebrated its first day in Ibi (Valencia). In it, Irene Monseco (F-16E) has obtained two silver medals while Gonzalo Zorrilla (M-18E) received gold and silver in the Forest and Sprint Leagues. At the end of the 1st orientation day, Gonzalo was third after his good results in the long distance that replaced his 7th place in the average.
Futsal: CD Leganés FS
The absolute women’s futsal team that remains in the 1st National of the competition sealed a victory “by trade and pride”, as the club points out, against Atlético Torcal. Arriving at the break tied, they were able to prevail in the second half with a final 5-2. With two games less, he remains 11th in the table (17 points).
For its part, the men’s absolute won 1-0 against Soliss FS Talavera in a very important match that allowed him to break away from InterMovistar FS, red lantern of the 2nd RFEF Futsal (14 points) but not to get out of the relegation places as he remains penultimate in the table (20 points) 5 points from 13th place , occupied by the Soliss FS Talavera.

45 metals in the Madrid Master Championship of winter
Last weekend was a celebration for the Leganés Swimming Club as it obtained 45 metals in the Cto. Madrid Winter Master held on the M-86. Of these metals, 13 were gold, 19 silver and 13 bronze, which meant the 6th position for the Club in the championship.
The Galan Kyodai Karate Club advance in the league
Young Pablo and Iván Casado got the bronze in the first day of the National Karate League on January 24 in the day played in Santiago de Compostela. The second will take place on February 26 in Alicante.
Badminton season kicks off
The Leganés Badminton Club has attended this weekend the first day of the sub13 and sub19 regional circuit, with up to eleven representatives from their schools.
