The stage is set for the French Jujitsu and Ne Waza championships, taking place in Saint-Orens on March 19th and 20th, 2022.A talented contingent of Norman athletes has emerged from rigorous qualification tournaments, ready to represent their region on the national stage.

Jujitsu Combat: A Force to be Reckoned With

Norman competitors are poised to make a strong showing in the Jujitsu Combat division. Ophelia PANAZIO of AL Maromme will be competing in the -48kg weight class,while Maxime ANGOT and Matisse CAPRETTI,both representing JC Falaisien,will battle it out in the -77kg category. The -85kg division will see Renaud LECHARTIER of USM Blainvillaise and Romuald JEAN BUREL of AG Caen vying for top honors.Ne Waza: Norman Talent Shines

The Ne Waza competition promises to be equally exciting, with a diverse group of Norman athletes showcasing their skills. Sarah MEGZARI of CS Beaumontais will compete in the -45kg weight class. Ophelia PANAZIO, already a contender in Jujitsu combat, will also be testing her mettle in the -48kg Ne Waza division. Eléobane LE COADOU of Foyer Bernanos and Romane MESSIO of Saint Marcel Judo will face off in the -57kg category. Clélia QUENSON of Akela JJ will represent normandy in the -63kg division, while Marine PRETRE of Eure Judo will compete in the -70kg weight class. Rounding out the Norman contingent is Nicolas MALET of Akela JJ,who will be competing in the -77kg division.

This year’s championships are sure to be a thrilling display of athleticism and skill, with Norman athletes poised to leave their mark on the national stage.

With the French Jujitsu and Ne Waza Championships just around the corner, excitement is building in Normandy.The region boasts a formidable team heading to Saint-Orens on March 19th and 20th, ready to take on the best in the country.To delve deeper into the team’s prospects and the championship itself, we sat down with David Bertrand, a former national champion and respected coach in the Jujitsu community.

Moderator: David, thanks for joining us today. Normandy has a strong contingent heading to the championships this year. What are your impressions of the team’s chances?

David Bertrand: It’s fantastic to see so much talent coming out of Normandy this year. We’ve always had a strong Jujitsu tradition in the region, and these athletes have been performing exceptionally well in qualifiers. I’m particularly excited about Ophelia Panazo competing in both Jujitsu combat and Ne Waza. That shows real versatility and dedication.

Moderator: Ophelia’s double entry is indeed remarkable. Do you think this demanding schedule could be a challenge for her?

David Bertrand: It’s a risk, no doubt. It’ll require incredible focus and physical stamina. But Ophelia is a seasoned competitor, and I have faith in her ability to manage both divisions.It’ll be a true test of her strength and resilience.

Moderator: The -77kg category in both Jujitsu Combat and Ne Waza seems particularly competitive with some strong contenders from Normandy. How do you see those matchups playing out?

David Bertrand: Absolutely.Maxime Angot and Matisse Capretti are both incredibly skilled and will likely push each othre to the limit. They’ll need to be at their absolute best to overcome the competition from other regions. The same goes for Renaud lechartier and Romuald jean Bure in the -85kg category. It’s going to be a riveting battle in both divisions.

Beyond individual performance, what are your thoughts on Normandy’s chances in the overall team standings?

David Bertrand: Normandy has always been a force to be reckoned with in national competitions, but the competition is fierce. Our athletes need to bring their A-game and capitalize on every chance. Regional pride is at stake, and I believe they’re up to the challenge.
