A goal from Amorebieta“>Javi Ros in stoppage time keeps the Blues alive in the fight for permanence
A subtle touch from the edge of the area by Javi Ros with the inside of his right foot to a ball that slipped between a sea of legs, in extra time, allowed Amorebieta to rescue a very important point in the Anxo Carro. The Blues did not deserve to go empty-handed from the clash against Lugo and that last goal did justice to what was seen in the Galician fiefdom. An intense clash that the two teams had marked in red. The albivermellos struck first, but the zornotzarras never lost faith and, although they had to wait for the addition, the draw helps them cut a point with their predecessors in the table and keep their options alive before the vital match against Leganés del next Monday.
A persistent and insistent downpour wanted to add to the battle that Lugo and Amorebieta staged at the Anxo Carro. Iñigo Vélez made three changes to his line-up, seeking to strengthen his team in anticipation of a physical and intense encounter, as it turned out. Andoni López had his first start in the left lane. Álvaro Peña, after serving a penalty last day, returned to the media line. And Koldo Obieta was chosen to accompany Guruzeta in the attacking duo, enhancing the aerial game of Urritxe’s men.

INCIDENTS
: Rainy afternoon at Anxo Carro. 2,262 spectators.
It didn’t take long for the striker from San Sebastian to try his luck at Anxo Carro. Twenty seconds later, ‘Guru’ sought a shot with great intention from the top of the area, but crashed it into the body of an Albivermello defender. It was the foretaste of what happened during the first hour, with the men from Vélez de Mendizabal well planted and being superior to a Lugo who was overtaken by the good staging of those from Urritxe. His was the control of the ball and the game, and also the best chances to have opened the light.
At the edge of the quarter hour, Guruzeta touched his ninth goal of the course, but his powerful header from Larrazabal’s service from the right wing was touching the post. It was not, however, the best option for an Amorebieta that he proposed the most. Andoni López, with a very hard left-footed shot from the front, took splinters out of the post.
However, Lugo knew how to take advantage of the set pieces to punish the Biscayans’ lack of success. Based on lateral shipments and corner kicks, he bottled up Amorebieta. Until 39′ Pita appeared to head a corner in a small area, without jumping. An action in which perhaps Roberto Santamaría could have done something more, nailed to the goal line. The Navarrese goalkeeper was able to get even shortly after with a very good shot save by Chris Ramos in another strategic move for Rubén Alvés’ men. The blues were knocked out, the best news was that the break was reached 1-0.
The second period only had one color, the green that the zornotzarras wore this Sunday. Lugo trusted their fate to their defensive strength, and Rubén Alvés’ men almost succeeded in their plan. The start of Urritxe’s team was explosive, surrounding the Galician area. The only downside was that the crosshairs weren’t as sharp as they should have been. Guruzeta tried it in a forced shot that ended in a corner. Iker Bilbao and Lander Olaetxea also tried their luck with two shots from the edge of the box that were also unsuccessful.
Álvaro Peña did not get tired of creating play and supplying balls to his teammates, being one of the most outstanding. He was even able to score with a header from the far post that missed him by inches. The Lugo resisted the siege relatively firmly. He even disturbed a couple of cons, with the Amorebieta overturned. Cuéllar, with a quarter of an hour to go, faced Peru Nolaskoain and stepped on the area, but could not overcome a providential Santamaría to deflect the ball across the baseline.
Despite the deep wear, Amorebieta kept trying until the end. She went all out, amassing a multitude of troops in attack positions. Javi Ros had to appear, in the last minute of added time, to chase down a loose ball in the front and strike with great class to debut his scoring account as a blue player and sign the fourteenth tie for Urritxe’s men.
