Sorting is based on the number of gold, silver and bronze medals. Germany is one of the most successful nations at the Olympic Winter Games. After reunification, German athletes managed to finish first in the national rankings four times.

Medal table 2018: Germany in second place

At the past Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, Germany was only beaten by athletes from Norway out of 93 participating nations. Both nations came up with a total of 14 gold medals – the Scandinavians, however, collected more silver and bronze medals than the Germans.
