The competition organized by the Messina Police Headquarters and named “The tree of wishes”organized thanks also to contribution from the Municipality of Messina, the local Confesercenti headquarters and the Vittorio Emanuele Theater Ente. In particular, during the Christmas holidays, we asked the youngest students of Messina and its province to write one small letter with which to express a desire for legality, answering the simple question “What do you want from the State Police for a safer world?”
Of letters about six hundred arrived, all kept in a transparent urn placed under the Christmas tree of the police station. The works were then evaluated by a commission that decided the winners, who met today, together with classmates, teachers and parents, at the Vittorio Emanuele Theater.
The event began, in the presence of the highest city authorities, with the national anthem, performed by the choir and orchestra of the “Emilio Ainis” Lyceum of Messina, which then performed with other surprising performances musical. The multifaceted presenter of the event except the rosewhich welcomed the guest star Max Giusti and the special guests, Olympic Medals of the “Gold Flames” of the State Police, Antonino Pizzolato (bronze in weightlifting at the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games), Maria Centracchio (bronze in judo at the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games), Mirco Scarantino (three times European weightlifting champion) and, finally, Salvatore Parla, the technical manager of the youth weightlifting section “Fiamme Oro” of Caltanissetta.
Finally, with the precious contribution of Confesercenti Messina and the Vittorio Emanuele Theater, the twenty-six winners received, in addition to the hat and gadgets from the State Police, the following prizes: three gift vouchers to be spent at the “Tremestieri” shopping center; six tickets for a show at the Vittorio Emanuele Theater; sixteen good snacks at the “Irrera” bar in the city center; a pair of sunglasses to reward the most “original” work.
A crew from the Horse Department and a dog unit from the Catania Police Headquarters were present for the occasion. The latter entertained the audience with a demonstration on stage performed by the police dog Chris, a splendid example of Labrador, an anti-explosive dog of the State Police who was able to quickly identify the explosive substance showing great skill.
