Mexicali and Tijuana show their power in state basketball start

MEXICALI.- The representatives of Mexicali and Tijuana showed their power at the start of the Men’s Basketball State Championship, en route to the Conade 2022 Nationals, by achieving victories in the 2005-2005 and 2006-2007 categories at the State Auditorium.

In the 2004-2005 category, Tijuana beat Ensenada 86-65 supported by a 31-point offense in the second quarter, in exchange for six from Ensenada; In the first half of the game, Félix Acosta’s team had a partial victory by 52-25 in a game in which Sebastián Chacón contributed 20 points.

In this same category, Mexicali also celebrated its first victory in the state championship by defeating Rosarito 90-45, after a first half in which the hosts, led by Emmanuel Barragán, already won 52-20.

The best scorers for Mexicali were José Segoviano with 12, Maximiliano with nine (three triples) and Emiliano Castillo with eleven; from Rosarito, Carlos Lechuga with ten points.

In another duel between Mexicali and Rosarito but in the 2006-2007 category, the Mexicalenses prevailed 78-30 in their presentation at the State Championship, led with twelve points by Francisco Álvarez.

And in the fourth game of the day, corresponding to the 2006-2007 category, Tijuana beat Ensenada by winning 126-52, in a match in which the winners came to have a 22-0 advantage, until Alan Varela got the first two points for the porteños.

With 39 points in the first quarter, Renato Valenzuela’s team went into the halftime break with a comfortable 62-26 lead; In the following two quarters, the Tijuanenses also managed to pass 20 points to consolidate themselves as a strong contender for the title in this category.

Ángel Ochoa was dispatched with 28 points and Fabio Osuna with 18 led the Tijuana offense; Alan Varela finished with seven units for the Buenos Aires.

The Men’s State Championship will come to an end this Sunday at the State Auditorium, with the duels between Rosarito and Ensenada, at 09:00 am, in the Sub 16, and at 10:40 am, in the Sub 18; Mexicali and Tijuana will close the tournament with the games at 12:20 p.m., in Sub 16, and at 2:00 p.m., in Sub 18.
