Latvian goalkeeper Marek Mitten repelled 18 opponents in the American Hockey League (AHL) match on Saturday and was named the third “star” of the game, but his Utica’s “Comets” failed. Comets lost to Cleveland Monsters 1: 2 (0: 0, 0: 2, 1: 0).
The Latvian goalkeeper repelled 18 of 20 opponents’ shots. This season, Miten has played in the AHL in ten games, scoring an average of 3.49 goals and dealing 88% of the opponents’ shots.
In another game, goalkeeper Artūrs Šilovs remained on the reserve bench while his Ebotsford Canucks defeated Manitoba’s Moose 5: 2 (2: 0, 2: 1, 1: 1) without Harald Egle.
“Comets” with 61 points in 41 games in the Eastern Conference is in first place, while in the Western Conference “Moose” with 53 points in 42 games is in fourth place, and “Canucks” with 42 points in 38 matches is in eighth place.
In the regular championship, until the end of April, the teams will play an unequal number of games – 76, 72, or 68 -, dividing the places according to the points / match ratio won. It is planned that starting from next season, all units in the regular tournament will play 72 games.
