The players from Napoli and FC Barcelona unfurled a “Stop War” banner (Stop the war), as a protest against the Russian attack and invasion of Ukraine, this Thursday before the Europa League match, AFP stated.
Just before the start of the return leg of the play-offs for access to the round of 16 of the Europa League, following the usual protocol for the presentation of the teams, this banner was briefly unfurled, as the Neapolitan club had announced shortly before on Twitter.
UEFA will meet extraordinarily on Friday through its executive committee. Its members will consider possible measures and sanctions for the situation, such as the possibility of changing the venue for this year’s Champions League final, scheduled for the end of May in St. Petersburg, Russia.
