Vaccination refuser Kyrie Irving is finally shining again on the basketball court: In the top game against the NBA champions, the Milwaukee Bucks, the playmaker led the Brooklyn Nets to victory with a strong performance.
Basketball superstar Kyrie Irving, 29, gave his best performance of the NBA season to help the Brooklyn Nets win away at defending champions Milwaukee Bucks. Irving, who was not eligible to play in home games due to his lack of corona vaccination, scored 38 points and five rebounds and five assists at 126:123 in the night from Saturday to Sunday (February 27, 2022). Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo (27) had 29 points, 14 rebounds and six assists.
The Nets have only two wins from the previous 15 games and have slipped far down the Eastern Conference table as a result – the win against the Bucks was therefore very important in the fight for the playoffs. The injury to superstar Kevin Durant (33) is particularly difficult for the Ney Yorkers. In the home game against the Toronto Raptors, the Nets have to do without Irving again.
Grizzlies talent Ja Morant inspires fans with performance explosion
In the top game of the day, the Memphis Grizzlies beat the Chicago Bulls 116-110. The outstanding man on the field was Ja Morant (22), who contributed 46 points to the success and thus has at least 40 points for the fifth time this season. The Grizzlies consolidated third place in the Western Conference with the win, while the Bulls lost first place in the east to the Miami Heat, who won their home game against the San Antonio Spurs 133:129.
Even without the German national basketball player Daniel Theis (29), the Boston Celtics won their second game after the all-star break in the NBA. The Celtics won 113-104 (56-54) against the Detroit Pistons on Saturday night and scored their eleventh win in the past twelve games. Jaylen Brown (25) with 27 and Jayson Tatum (23) with 26 points were the top pitchers for the winner. Theis was not used by coach Ime Udoka (44). (dpa)
