LaMelo Ball, base of the Hornets, Y Dejounte Murray, its counterpart in the Spurs, will be the spare parts of the injured Kevin Durant and Draymond Green, respectively, in the All Star to be held in Cleveland next February 20th. Both have been chosen by Commissioner Adam Silver, in charge of selecting the substitute players for those who were chosen and cannot participate in the event. In addition, Jayson Tatum, eaves of the Celtics, replace Durant as the starter.
Ball, rookie of the year last season, earned his first All-Star selection. In its second season, averages 19.6 points, 7.5 assists, 7.1 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 47 games. It is also the first time that Murray will be in the All-Star Game. In his fifth season in the League, he is averaging career highs with 19.6 points, 9.2 assists, 8.4 rebounds and 2.0 steals in 47 games. In addition, he has 10 triple-doubles, the second most this season and a record for a Spurs player.
Durant not play in the All Star due to a sprain in the medial collateral ligament of the left knee, which has sidelined him for the last 11 games. Green, meanwhile, suffers a lower back injury that has prevented him from participating in the last 14 games.
When a starter is injured and cannot participate in the All Star, he is replaced by the reserve of the same Conference and from the same position that received the most votes. As a result, Tatum will be selected with the starters in the first round of the draft del All Star, to be held this Thursday, February 10 with Durant, despite being injured, and LeBron James as captains.
