The Chicago Bulls‘ injury worries never end. Zach LaVine is still experiencing pain in his left knee and will have a specialist check-up again next week.
Laut Adrian Wojnarowski (ESPN) but LaVine still plans to attend the All-Star festivities next weekend. The 26-year-old will not only play as an all-star reserve in Team Durant, but will also compete in the three-point contest on Saturday
Already on Sunday night, LaVine was missing from the Bulls’ win against the Oklahoma City Thunder due to knee pain, it was not the first time this season. In all, the guard missed ten of 57 games with persistent knee problems, including five games in a row when he was suddenly in pain without opposition against the Golden State Warriors.
However, an MRI scan found no structural damage in LaVine’s left knee. Still, this worries the Bulls, as it’s the very knee where the two-time All-Star tore his cruciate ligament in February 2017 while still playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Bulls are currently second in the East, although head coach Billy Donovan’s team has suffered numerous absentees. With Lonzo Ball (torn meniscus), Alex Caruso (fractured wrist), Derrick Jones Jr. (broken finger) and Patrick Williams (torn wrist ligament), four rotation players are out with long-term injuries, and LaVine’s ailments keep coming.
The 26-year-old is still having an outstanding season. In 47 games, the guard averaged 24.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4.5 assists with odds of 48.2 percent from the field and 39.9 percent from the line of three.
