Negative advice for new stadium Cercle Brugge

Negative advice for new stadium Cercle Brugge

The current stadium, the Jan Breydel Stadium, has been too small for the two Bruges football teams together for years. The plan is to renovate and expand the Breydel Stadium for Club Brugge. Cercle Brugge would move to a new stadium on the Blankenbergse Steenweg. But those plans are now jeopardized by the negative advice of the Council of State. The final decision of the Council of State is still awaited.

“I am disappointed, but persevere,” says Franky Demon, Alderman for Spatial Planning for Sports (CD&V). “I would like to expressly thank the Flemish Government once again for all the hard work it has done together with the city on this file. We have been doing our utmost to make adjustments for years, but apparently this hard work is not being rewarded with this advice.”
