MLB and the Players Association met for several hours Monday in Jupiter, Florida, and made significant progress in their quest to end the lockout.
MLB increased its pre-arbitration fund offer from $5 million to $20 million, a sum that would be distributed among the top 30 players prior to salary arbitration. The Association had requested $115 million, which would be distributed among 150 players.
The league also expanded its offering of an NBA-style Draft lottery for the top three or four picks. The Association remained firm in its request that the agreement cover eight teams.
