The University of Jaén, through its Sports Service, held last Friday, February 18, the presentation of the University of Jaén Access Trophy at its headquarters on the Las Lagunillas Campus, which has had the participation of 19 Baccalaureate centers in Jaén and province, with a total of about 700 participants in the different modalities called: soccer 7, paddle tennis, table tennis, triple contest, chess and a novel combined testing activity called UJA Challenge. The The UJA Access Trophy was held from February 14 to 18 and brought together students from the Baccalaureate centers of the province of Jaén and it was played in different sports modalities.
In a great atmosphere and with outstanding participation, they won the Victory in men’s soccer 7 the IES Virgen del Carmen and in the female category the Colegio San Antonio de Padua de Martos. In the paddle tennis competition, in the female category, the IES María Cabeza Arellano Martínez de Mengíbar would win, being the winners of the male category the IES Ciudad de Arjona, beating IES Jabalcuz in the finalcenter that would take the Champion and runner-up podium in the new combined test Desafío UJA.Deporte.
In the individual modalities, highlight the victory Vicente Cortés of the IES Virgen de la Cabeza, in the Chess test, being runner-up Sophia Ortegathe IES Miguel Sanchez Lopez of Torredelcampo. At triple contest, victory fell on the side by Irene Lopezthe IES Las Fuentezuelas in the female category, and of Rafael Monterothe IES Auringis in the male. On table tennis in the men’s category won Jose Mª Chamorrothe IES Fernando III de Martos, being the winner in female category Claudia Martinezwhich would thus achieve a new success for the IES Jabalcuz.
Highlight the effort made to resume a new edition of this Trophy, which had to be suspended in its 2021 edition due to the pandemic and that in this 2022 has had to adapt its formats to make it compatible with the current situation and with the reduction of indoor capacity.
On Wednesday, February 23, the edition will take place at the Linares Science and Technology Campus, where the modalities of chess, badminton, table tennis and triple contest.
