Hermen Hulst, Head of Playstation Studios, commented on the Bungie purchase via Twitter:

“I’m absolutely thrilled to welcome Bungie to the Playstation family! Bungie creates community-based games with outstanding technology that are tremendously fun, and I know everyone at Playstation Studios will be excited to see what we share and create together can learn from each other.”

After the acquisition, Bungie will remain an independent subsidiary of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) and a multiplatform studio – with the option to self-publish games. The studio continues to maintain Destiny 2 and is working on an expansion and a new IP. in one Blog-Post writes Bungie:
