NFL plans to have 2 Monday Night Football games around the same time

The 2023 NFL season promises to be one full of emotions and big changes, not only in franchise rosters, but also in the broadcasts of some games. They plan to have two Monday Night Football games and at almost the same time.

Have they gone crazy? The truth is that no, although they are getting a little out of the script that they had handled in recent years. To NFL they did not like to compete against themselves for the audience of their matches, so this change is to attract attention.

In billboards of two Monday Night Football games there were a few minutes of difference between the end of one game and the start of another, that of colliding in ratings was not his thing and the same thing happened with Thanksgiving Day.

But, this changes for 2023 because the NFL plans to have a Monday Night Football game on ESPN and the other game an hour after the kickoff of the first game on ABC. The curious thing about the case is that both chains belong to Disney.

The comb is out! While the NFL may not look too favorably on having two games collide on broadcasts near halftime, Disney’s idea is to find out what happens when they do.…basically one, by spoiling you learn.

Two different broadcasts for two NFL games on Monday Night Football

The thing would be as follows, ESPN or ABC will broadcast a game, for example, at 7:00 p.m. (Central Mexico time) and the network that broadcasts the second game will do so from 8:00 p.m. so that there would be almost two hours in which two Monday Night Football games will be seen.

There is no decision yet on the weeks in which the 2023 Monday Night Football doubleheader would be played this way, but the league plans for this to happen in the first weeks of the campaignin accordance with Sport Business Journal. This experiment would last only three weeks, which is the contract that ABC has with the NFL.

Two games and three telecasts: Why do we say three telecasts when only two networks will show the Monday Night Football games in the NFL? Easy, ESPN has added one more broadcast since last season, so we can’t forget about MNF with the Manning brothers..
