Joaquín Niemann was able to celebrate his second title on the PGA Tour on Sunday thanks to the good performance shown at the Riviera Country Club, which earned him the Genesis Invitational trophy. Praise for his performance came from different personalities and entities.
The Chilean achieved the greatest achievement of his career and his victory is very valuable. In 2018, talagantino was awarded el Latin America Amateur Championship, a trophy that gave him the step to rub shoulders with the elite of the sport. After three seconds last season, he lifted the Genesis Invitational trophy after leading the tournament from start to finish, something that had last been seen when Charlie Sifford was champion in 1969. In addition, he managed to climb 12 positions and settled among top 20 golf representatives in the world after the last update of the ranking.
One of the people who was attentive to his tour was the Argentine Matías Anselmo, former manager of the high performance area of the Argentine Golf Association (AAG) and, in addition, represented his country in different competitions.
The now ESPN and Star + commentator refers to what the Chilean has achieved. “It is a great victory for Joaquín Niemann. I think there are two things to note. The first is validation. Joaquín is a young player, he only has three seasons on the PGA Tour. He had already done important things. He had reached two Tour Championship. However a single victory in a tournament that he did not have the best field and he owed a good one and the truth is that he did it this week”, began analyzing Anselmo.
“He did it at the Riviera Country Club, a course with almost a hundred years of history and home to Majors. Also because he did it in the Tiger Woods tournament with all that that represents. And especially because for the first time in the season the ten best of the FedEx were present and above all the first ten of the world ranking”, he continued.
“So today I think that the entire golf world gives Joaquín the credit he deserves. This was not a Majorbut as far as the competitors and the field are concerned, he was not far behind”, he added later.
On the other hand, he valued the confidence of the national golfer. “When you in a tee difficult with all the pressure, with all the people, with Tiger Woods, you beat the best in the world, that raises your game, raises your confidence to different levels”, he stressed.
“Joaquín said yesterday ‘now I feel ready to win important things’. He still doesn’t have a top 10 in Majors, but he realized that he can win them. And above all, dreaming of what he once said is the great goal of his entire life.. Today Joaquín I think he feels that, if he keeps doing things this way, if he keeps working hard, maybe one day he can be number one in the world”, closed Anselmo.
