Nor Nygaard and Sweden’s Dahlová won the Jizera 50, and Sad was tenth

Nygaard decided the victory in the finals of a four-member group leader. He repeated the triumphs of 2019 and 2020 in the Jizera Mountains. “Maybe it was the best day I’ve ever skied. I was in great shape, I had great skis, it was an amazing track. Today it was easy all the time, I was in amazing shape, it was fun, “he said in an interview with Czech Television.

In ideal conditions, we drove very fast. Even the best Czech Pliska felt it on his own skin. “It was a very high pace from the beginning. I left everything on the first hill, so I thought I wouldn’t make it. Then it was beautiful, then we went at our pace in a group and we fought to the end,” he said. Max Novak, a Swede with Czech roots, who was thinking of fighting for victory, finished two places behind him. “My skis didn’t go through the first half at all, so it’s a disaster,” he complained.

Last year, Dahlová finished second in the Jizera Fifty, but this time she had a big advantage. She won one minute and eighteen seconds ahead of compatriot Britta Johansson Norgren.

The two-time winner of the Jizera Fifty, Smutná, returned to the races in tenth place for a while. “I’m definitely happy, my goal was to be in tenth place and I’m exactly tenth. I really liked it today. But for the first five kilometers it was suicide for me. It was terribly fast, the girls are racing. Then it kind of started and I was doing really well, “she praised herself.

She ran most of the race in a group with other Czechs Karolína Grohová and Sandra Schützová, who eventually placed in the top ten. “It was nice, we talked,” said Smutná. Eva Vrabcová Nývltová, a marathon runner and former elite cross-country skier, finished 18th.

Unlike last year’s race, amateur runners could also start this year exclusively for the elite. A record 8190 participants took part in all the races that took place as part of the Jizera Fifty since Friday.
