Police Sector to Boycott Snoop Dogg’s Super Bowl Performance

The presence of Snoop Dogg at Super Bowl halftime show was criticized by some sectors of the police in the United States, who pointed out that they will turn off their televisions or watch other channels in response to the attacks they have received from the rapper.

In the midst of a complex social context, Snoop has criticized police violence especially against the African-American populationbeing a key point the lyrics of the song “Police”which sings along with J5 Slap, where you can hear his call to ignore them and even to attack them.

On Friday, the official Facebook page of the Suffolk County Police Benevolent Association appeared with a post mentioning that their leaders would boycott the halftime show.

“Encouraging people to shoot cops apparently earns you a headlining spot at the Superbowl,” it read. “If you choose to watch the game, (we won’t) halftime is a great time to turn off your TV. in honor of those men and women in blue who gave their lives for us“.

The same institution also asked a brand of vodka to disassociate itself from Snoop Dogg, who has been a staunch critic of the way police officers behave.

Since September, the NFL announced the names of the artists who will participate in the Super Bowl LVI halftime show, which will be full of American hip hop figures:
