International Women’s Day on March 8th will see the launch of the impactful “My life has value” campaign, amplifying the voices and contributions of women in sports.
The fifth edition of the Women’s Olympic Festival, featuring 16 diverse sports, will be held at the Olympic Lodge in Salinas on March 12th and 13th, offering a platform for female athletes to showcase their skills and inspire future generations. The month culminates with the prestigious Olympic Awards, recognizing outstanding achievements in Puerto Rican sports.
Building Momentum and Global Connections
April will see copur extend its reach to educational institutions through the “MoviĆ©ndonos PUR los Nuestro” project, fostering a passion for sports among young minds. Puerto Rico will join the global community in celebrating the International Day for the Development of Sports and Peace on April 6th,reaffirming its commitment to using sport as a tool for social progress.
June brings further opportunities for female athletes with another development workshop led by Mueller.The Olympic beach Festival,held at the Balneario de Carolina on June 17th and 18th,will serve as a crucial planning event for the 2023 World Beach Games.
On June 23rd, Puerto Rico will join the International Olympic Committee in celebrating International Olympic Day, spreading the values of Olympism and inspiring a spirit of unity through sport.This day also marks the official countdown to the San Salvador 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games, where Puerto Rico aims to surpass its impressive 87-medal haul from Barranquilla 2018.
Caribbean Games Debut and National Competitions
July will witness the historic debut of the Caribbean Games, featuring 29 countries, 800 athletes, and seven sports. Puerto Rico will be represented in five disciplines: athletics, 3×3 basketball, judo, swimming, and beach volleyball.
The island will also host the highly anticipated Olympic Cup on July 9th and 10th at the Convention Center, bringing together thousands of athletes across more than 15 sports.October will see Puerto Rican athletes compete in international competitions in boxing, fencing, judo, karate, Olympic wrestling, and taekwondo, showcasing their skills on a global stage.
Pan American and Central American Games on the Horizon
The countdown to the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games begins on October 20th, with the event scheduled from October 20th to November 5th, 2023. this prestigious competition will serve as a qualifying event for the paris 2024 Olympic Games, adding further meaning to Puerto rico’s participation.
Puerto Rican athletes will conclude the year by competing in the inaugural Central American and Caribbean Sea and Beach Games in Santa Marta,Colombia,from November 12th to 19th.
