The matches on the fourth day of World Cup qualifying between the Netherlands and Russia and Great Britain against Belarus have been postponed, the International Federation has announced.
“FIBA announced on Friday that the Netherlands v Russia (scheduled for February 27 in Almere) and Great Britain – Belarus (scheduled for February 28 in Newcastle) matches for the FIBA World Cup European Qualifiers 2023, have been postponed. The decision is based on the assessment of the current security situation. FIBA is closely monitoring the security situation in Europe, as the safety of players and officials remains FIBA’s primary concern. »
The Netherlands had refused to host Russia, thus canceling the Group H match, before official confirmation by FIBA.
