The test days at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona have officially started and it is Red Bull Racing that immediately manages to attract attention. The striking – and also different – design of the RB18 is the topic of conversation, in the paddock and on the internet.
The test days in Barcelona take place behind closed doors. Still, photos are emerging here and there of the teams preparing for the new Formula 1 season. The formation of world champion Max Verstappen has opted for a striking new design.
Sidepods
The sidepods of the team’s new achievement are striking. The team has opted for a radical air scoop, its functioning is not entirely clear. The suspension also catches the eye at Red Bull which follows a similar path to McLaren with a pull-rod front suspension and a push-rod suspension at the rear. However, the team has interpreted the rules in a different way. The design of the sidepods is unique to say the least, but Alpine has opted for a similar solution.
There is a lot of speculation on social media about how the sidepods work.
