Since the last edition, in 2014, of the Open GDF Suez, which was played at the Stade Pierre-de-Coubertin, in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, the capital no longer had a 100% female event to offer fans of high level tennis.
From May 9 to 15, the shortfall will be filled thanks to the organization of the first Lagardère Trophy, organized on the Paris Racing site, in the Bois de Boulogne. This clay court event will fall under the WTA 125 category, such as the Saint-Malo, Limoges and Angers tournaments. A sort of female Super Challenger, which will allow players to prepare for the French Open (May 22-June 5), very close to the Roland-Garros stadium.
The management of the tournament has been entrusted to Stéphanie Cohen Aloro, ex-61st player in the world. French number 5 Kristina Mladenovic (98th WTA) has already confirmed her participation.
