Remembering Robert McKellar: A Life of Service and love

robert McKellar, a beloved husband, father, and community member, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2022, just shy of his 59th birthday.His courageous battle with illness ended at Victoria Hospital in London, surrounded by the love of his family.Robert leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication. He was a devoted husband to Betty (nee Macuda) for 28 years, and a loving father to Courtney and Carman. His parents, Ian McKellar and the late Betty Ann Wolsey (2014), instilled in him a strong sense of community, a value he carried throughout his life. He was also a cherished son-in-law to Anna Macuda, brother to Keith, and brother-in-law to Barb (Tom) Ritchie and John (Denean) Macuda. Robert’s warmth extended to his nieces and nephews: T.J. (Lindsey) Ritchie, cody (Tami) Richie, Livya Macuda, and Caety macuda.He will be deeply missed by his extended family, including his aunt and uncle, Ken and Joan Munro, as well as numerous cousins and friends.

Robert’s life was marked by a commitment to service. for over three decades, he dedicated himself to the Alvinston Co-op, becoming a familiar and respected face in the community. His passion for helping others also led him to volunteer with the Alvinston Fire Department, where he selflessly served his neighbors.

Beyond his professional and community involvement, Robert was a dedicated family man who cherished spending time with his loved ones. He was an avid sports enthusiast, enjoying baseball and hockey, and found immense joy in coaching his children’s sports teams.

The McKellar family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated nurses and doctors at Strathroy Middle General Hospital, Parkwood Institute, and Victoria Hospital for their compassionate care and support during robert’s illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Diabetes Canada, the Brooke Alvinston Firefighter Association, or the Kidney Foundation of Canada, organizations close to robert’s heart.

Robert McKellar’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him. His kindness,generosity,and unwavering spirit will be remembered and cherished by his family,friends,and community for years to come.
