On the occasion of actor Roland Giraud‘s birthday, this Monday, February 14, Gala invites you to come back to the drama of his life: the murder of his daughter Géraldine, when she was only 36 years old.
It happened on November 1, almost 18 years ago. It is the assassination of Géraldine, the daughter of actor Roland Giraud, who turns 80 this Monday, February 14. The young woman, who was an actress and voiceover by profession, was only 36 when the tragedy took place. As a reminder, this happened while the small family was in Yonne, where his second home was. At the time, the comedian’s only daughter was missing and it was not until December 9, 2004 that his body was found, after many excavations. It was then calcined and found in the garden of a certain Jean-Pierre Treiber, a former forester who was 41 years old.
The latter becomes the main suspect in this case, even if he denies the facts of which he is accused. Another body was found at the scene, namely that of the companion of Géraldine Giraud, Katia Lherbier, social educator and jazz singer. The man in question had used the bank cards of the two women on several occasions. Enough to put the investigators on his trail. They also found, at his house in the ashes of a wood fire, jeans buttons, two pieces of cell phones and apartment keys. Placed in pre-trial detention in the Auxerre remand center on November 22, 2004, and charged with “kidnappings, sequestrations, thefts and swindles”, Jean-Pierre Treiber escaped in September 2009. The police eventually found him two months later and imprisoned him again in Fleury-Mérogis.
A suspect who preferred to commit suicide
While his trial was to be held a few weeks after his return to prison, he was found dead on February 20, 2010, hanged in his cell. The case concerning the murder of Géraldine Giraud could therefore never be fully elucidated and the main suspect was never able to serve his entire sentence. For his part, the victim and daughter of the actor, who starred in the film Three men and a bassinethas been buried on December 20, 2004 in the cemetery of La Postollelocated in the Yonne.
