It’s a big name and a big silhouette that lands in Suresnes (Hauts-de-Seine). Former international second line David Auradou (48 years old, 41 caps with the XV of France between 1999 and 2004) has just been appointed sports manager of the RC Suresnes pro team. The former figure of the Stade Français, where he played from 1996 to 2009 (apart from the 2007-2008 season at Racing), will join from the 2022-2023 season the Hauts-de-Seine club, resident of Nationale (3rd division). RC Suresnes is currently 9th in this championship.
The club chaired by Laurent Piepszownik and Olivier Pouligny seeks to develop and structure itself “with the ambition of positioning the Rugby club Suresnes Hauts-de-Seine at the top of the table of the National championship and becoming a contender for qualification”, we specify at the club. Suresnes had thus appointed Mathieu Blin, another former Stade Français, as general manager in the summer of 2020. The club has, for example, recruited the former third line of Racing and the France team Antonie Claassen.
“Bibi” Auradou, who arrives for a two-season contract, plus an optional third year, must now choose his assistant to take over the position of rear coach, specifies the club. This new duo will replace the current coaches, Alexandre Compan and Joffrey Delacour, who will complete their contracts until the end of the season.
Crowned five times champion of France as a player with the Stade Français Paris (1998, 2000, 2003, 2004 and 2007), winner of two Grand Slams with the Blues (2002 and 2004), David Auradou, after his career as a player, coached forwards for Stade Français in 2012-2013, before spending six seasons in ProD2 coaching the Mont-de-Marsan pack (2014-2020).
