As various federations, including France, called it, Russia was therefore excluded from all international competition, in the same way as its clubs. “We believe that this decision contradicts the norms and principles of international competitions, as well as the spirit of sport. It is clearly discriminatory and prejudicial to a very large number of athletes, coaches, staff of clubs and national teams, and above all to the millions of Russian and international fans, whose interests should be primarily protected by the organizations international sports.»
The Federation, condemned because of the Russian invasion in Ukraine, denounces “a divide in the global sporting community, which has always adhered to the principles of equality, mutual respect and independence from politics.” It also announces that it reserves the right to contest this decision.
