The former Ukrainian striker from Anderlecht advises against Russians coming to Ukraine. “To Russian mothers and children: do not send your husbands and fathers to Ukraine. They won’t come home alive!”
Sacha Yakovenko, the former Ukrainian footballer of Anderlecht and Dinamo Kyiv and former Ukrainian international, is living through terrifying moments in Kyiv, the city where he lives and where he grew up. “Once in a while, there are fights in my neighborhood”says the current players’ agent, who was a Sporting striker between 2008 and 2013. “Sometimes I hear gunshots. At the moment, I am still in my home. We have been forbidden to leave our house until this Monday. In case of shelling, I have two options. Either go take shelter in a bunker or flee to our three-storey underground garage. But our anti-aircraft defense works well.”
