Sartorius Juniors Secure Top Spot with Hard-Fought Victory
The Sartorius Juniors have ascended too the top of the North relegation group in the NBBL/U19 youth basketball Bundesliga,demonstrating their dominance with an 82-63 victory over the Dresden Titans. The match, characterized by intense competition throughout, saw head coach Venelin Berov’s team emerge victorious after a hard-fought battle.
“It was a challenging game, but we earned our win,” stated Berov, highlighting the team’s resilience and determination.
From the outset, both teams displayed a fierce competitive spirit. Despite falling behind 2-6 early on, the Göttingen Juniors rallied, closing the gap to a single point by the end of the first quarter (18-19). The second quarter saw a continuation of this back-and-forth struggle, with the Juniors holding a slim three-point advantage at halftime (40-37).
Despite their narrow lead, Berov expressed dissatisfaction with his team’s defensive performance. “We have the potential to perform better defensively, and that’s something we need to focus on improving,” he emphasized.
The third quarter saw the Titans remain within striking distance, trailing 54-60 as the game entered its final phase.
It was in the final quarter that the Juniors truly unleashed their offensive prowess. Led by top scorer Chris Schultz, who amassed an notable 34 points, the team embarked on a decisive 15-0 run, extending their lead to 79-55 and effectively sealing the victory.

However, our team displayed remarkable grit, generating numerous second-chance opportunities with 26 offensive rebounds.”
