After two years of existence, the National Badminton Promotion Committee (Cnpb), led by Antoine Diandy, will become a federation. This change will take place at the end of a General Assembly scheduled for today.
By Amadou MBODJI – From now on, Senegalese badminton will no longer be run by a National Badminton Promotion Committee (Cnpb), but by a federation that will be set up today, Saturday. It will be at the end of the General Assembly, a first for this discipline led since by Antoine Diandy, says Tony.
“I am the only candidate”, specifies Tony Diandy, who underlines that there will be “the Extraordinary General Assembly at the same time to validate our texts” and an “Elective General Assembly for the election of the new Badminton Federation” .
Judging “very positive the results of the Cnpb”, Mr. Diandy underlined that “this is the reason why the Ministry of Sports has given its agreement to erect the committee into a federation”. International bodies, according to him, gave a very good rating to the body in charge of managing discipline. “We also had the satisfaction of international bodies, namely the World Federation and also the African Confederation. Because they judged that in two years, Senegal has raised the level of badminton in terms of networking and also of promotion and initiatives”, rejoices the future president of the Senegalese Badminton Federation. Stressing that there are “precursors of the discipline in Senegal”, citing Khalil Ndiaye, Olivier Bime, William Diabaléne and other people, Tony Diandy recalls the circumstances of the birth of the committee in 2019. “The Minister of Sports, Matar Bâ, having set up this structure which, despite the onset of the pandemic, did not prevent the rise of badminton in Senegal.
