The Casalegno team appeared at home with a 93-85 victory against Sportivo Suardi, who arrived at Varni undefeated. Alejo Traverso and Alquiles Montani Wortzel were once again top scorers with 21 each.
Immediately after the initial jump, parity was a common denominator between the two. Midway through the first quarter, it was perhaps Poi’s Rojiblanco team that made the first differences. With Lizarraga punishing from the third dimension, Correnti being deep in his visits to the rival rim plus a strong attitude from Gastón Fino to break with the sky-blue defense, Sportivo Suardi was at the forefront. It was difficult for Sport Club to get into the rhythm of the match, having in Traverso the only clear way of scoring. Coming from behind, the locals found their moment, Montani Wortzel put his team up for the first time 19-18 less than two minutes from time, two good actions by the aforementioned Traverso took the lead to (+3) and when everything indicated a profit from the premises at the end of the first ten appeared Correnti and Ledesma sealing the temporary partial of 21 -25.
The tone of the second segment was somewhat different, Sport at the very beginning executed a 7-2 run that was later extended with a triple by Salles (33-29). From that moment both teams alternated states of equality or of a slight leadership that immediately stabilized again; Reale and Lizarraga were promoters of those lapses in one and the other. The zonal defense imposed by the visit had a positive impact on the premises. Six points in a row by Delbon led the score to 46-40, however, Ledesma was again in charge of scoring points that finally took the game to halftime with a minimum difference of 48-47 for Sport.
Already in the complement, the development in the third quarter was still balanced. Until he was injured, Delbon was effective from the free throw line and on the other side Nahuel Fino with a 2 + 1 kept the score at 60 per side. Sport’s game took shape again when Montani Wortzel took charge of the offense. The forward scored 8 points that served to take off Celeste 68-64, a marker with which the period ended.
The final chapter of this match exhibited a solid version of the host, just started the last ten, Sport found the maximum of (+8) that increased just in the middle of the period. A steal and subsequent triple by Avenali made the Varni explode. The light indicated 82-71. However Lizarraga and Correnti were in charge of not giving up the game and proposed an attractive round trip. It was definitely Traverso who calmed down the red and white reaction. The man from Tostadense traveled to the line on several occasions, being relentless to which he added two conversions that sentenced the difference; 89-80 at one minute and a fraction. All that remained was to wait for the final horn that would decree the second victory in a chain that places Sport Club among the leaders of the Córdoba-Santa Fe Division along with Sportivo Suardi and Santa Paula.
The Rojiblanco lost this way for the first time in the competition, being the second time that it leaves the “Giant of the Avenue”. Traverso and Montani Wortzel, both with 21 in the winner and Lizarraga with 22 in the visit, were the scorers of the match. The fourth date will have the Canadians traveling to Gálvez on Thursday to face Santa Paula while Sportivo Suardi will play Sportivo de Las Parejas on Sunday the 20th at home.
