Leverkusen gets a TV presenter!
Valeska Homburg (46) will be the new head of the media and PR department at the Bundesliga club on July 1st.
The experienced TV journalist has already reported on football World Cups and the Olympic Games for ARD, and has also moderated several sports programs.
Homburg in the official Leverkusen press release: “I look back with great gratitude on 20 years with the ARD and look forward to the new task at Bayer 04 Leverkusen starting in the summer.”

During her time on ARD, Homburg caused a stir, especially with her interviews with Thomas Müller (32) and Marco Reus (32).
She spoke to Bayern star Müller after the cup loss at Holstein Kiel (6:7 nE) in January 2021. Homburg had to laugh a little when asked about the mood in the dressing room, which Müller didn’t find funny at all and replied rudely: “What do you think? You’re laughing here now!”
After the interview, Homburg and Müller apologized to each other. BVB captain Reus reacted a little more poisonously when Homburg spoke to him about the modest BVB situation after the embarrassing cup elimination at FC St. Pauli (1: 2) in January. She also mentioned that Bayern had probably rushed in the league…
Not for Reus! He grumbled: “Where have Bayern rushed to now? Six points, right! Should we give up now or what? We have to let that sink in first. We missed a huge chance to win the cup again. That is very bitter right now.”
At least at her work in Leverkusen, she should now be spared such verbal attacks.
In addition to her work, Homburg has been committed to social issues for many years. Together with the “kicker” she developed, among other things, the podcast “FE:male view on football”. Since November 2021, this format has also been used to discuss topics beyond the purely sporting. From the middle of the year, the podcast will be continued without Homburg.
