St. Pauli regains first place – victory in Regensburg

2nd league, 22nd matchday

The Kiez-Kicker narrowly prevailed at Jahn and regained the lead in the table, at least temporarily. The guests get off to a perfect start – but then everything turns out differently.

FC St. Pauli is back in first place in the 2nd division. The team coached by Timo Schultz won 3-2 (2-0) at Jahn Regensburg on Saturday evening, putting them back at the top of the table, at least temporarily. Etienne Amenyido (7′), Guido Burgstaller (11′, penalty) and Daniel-Kofi Kyereh (66′) scored for the visitors, but Andreas Albers (56′) and David Otto (73′) kept the game open for a long time.

Hamburg are now tied with Werder Bremen (both 41) in the lead. On Sunday, Darmstadt 98 (39) can overtake again in the promotion race with a win at Hannover 96.

Dream start for St. Pauli

Hamburg got off to a dream start in front of 7,605 spectators. Etienne Amenyido (7th) brought the guests on course. Goalscorer Guido Burgstaller (11th, penalty kick) followed up with his 16th goal of the season, after the break Daniel Kyereh (66th). Andreas Albers (56′) and David Otto (73′) scored for Regensburg (31), who suffered their third defeat in a row and are ninth after just one win in their last nine games.

The Kiezkicker lead at the break could have been even higher given the good chances. After the change of sides, however, Albers’ header brought the hosts back into play after a corner and a wild exchange of blows developed. Especially with standards, the defensive of Hamburg seemed extremely vulnerable.
