Tabilo climbed and approached the world Top 100

He had an almost perfect week and was close to the Top 100 worldwide. Chilean Alejandro Tabilo reached his first ATP level final, in Córdoba, on Argentine soil, was in clear advantage in the final against the Spanish Albert Ramos-Viñolas but could not win and thus get into that batch of the international ranking.

Tabilo, 24, went through the qualifying phase and was left with the desire to win his first official title. Chile’s No. 2 won the first set and then took a 4-1 lead in the third set, but dropped five games in a row and fell to Ramos in the definition on the clay of Cordoba.

Thanks to this performance, Tabilo climbed 32 places in the ATP ranking and achieved his best position as a professional by placing No. 112. It was an important leap in quality, although it had the bitter taste of having been close to final success and thus having entered the top 100 for the first time.

Ramos won his fourth ATP title and climbed 12 places to 32nd on the list. Another champion of the week, the Portuguese Joao Sousa, owner of the Pune tournament, improved 51 positions and returned to the Top 100, finishing 86th, while the Kazakh Alexander Bublik advanced four positions thanks to his first ATP title, in Montpellier, where he beat German Alexander Zverev (3rd) in the final, to now be No. 31.

In a week without changes in the Top 10, being the one following the Australian Open, the Serbian Novak Djokovic remains as world No. 1, escorted by the Russian Daniil Medvedev, while Zverev completes the podium.

The Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas is fourth and is followed by the Spanish Rafael Nadal, brand new champion in Melbourne, where he achieved the historical record of 21 Grand Slam.

Among the Latin Americans, Argentinean Diego Schwartzman dropped one position to 15th, followed by Chilean Cristian Garin, who dropped two places and is now 20th in the standings.
