With the vision of becoming a platform for the training and development of athletes, last Friday the new Chihuahuan team “Apaches” within the State Basketball League was presented to the fans of the capital, in the Rodrigo M. Quevedo gym.
The beginning of this year brought with it the formation of a new representative team of the municipality of Chihuahua in professional basketball, possible thanks to the interest in creating a new hobby in the community that increases and strengthens the roots of a sports culture, good physical health and mental in the city.
“Apaches” from Chihuahua debuted as a team in the LBE on January 28, with the expectation of being received by the local public by becoming a new option for the projection of Chihuahuan talent on professional stages.
“It is a project that is linked to developing new talents, especially children and young people. We want to generate children’s schools to give them projection. In this first roster we have Bryan Cano, Cristian Silva and Alberto Verdugo who are local players,” said Mario Estrada Chávez, president of the Chihuahua Apaches team.
The new representative team will host its local games at the Rodrigo M. Quevedo gymnasium for the next seven games remaining in the regular season, where they will host the Ciudad Juárez “Indomables” team in their closest home game on the 11th of February.
The president of the Chihuahuan team stated that he was working on the identity of the team according to the fans; “We want them to get involved and feel they are part of this, we believe we can do a good job and we are sure of positioning a new hobby,” he concluded.
