The NFL refuses to allow the Super Bowl to be televised at the Bengals’ stadium

CINCINNATI — The NFL has refused to allow the Super Bowl to be shown on screens at Paul Brown Stadium.

The league has sent a letter to stadium officials saying the legal and logistical hurdles are too great for the Cincinnati Bengals to broadcast the game on the stadium’s giant screens. The NFL reiterated that the decision respects the rules and policies of the organization.

Hamilton County officials had asked stadium officials to consider hosting fans at Paul Brown Stadium for the Super Bowl broadcast.

Hamilton County Office of Commissioners Chair Stephanie Summerow Dumas told the ‘Cincinnati Enquirer’ that she was particularly concerned about the security issues for spectators inside the stadium, and the prospect that the bars and restaurants surrounding the stadium would lose potential customers.

The stadium will be the meeting point for Bengals fans on Monday. All free general admission tickets for the event scheduled for 6 p.m. have already been sold out.

The Bengals will face the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium on February 13.
