The Union’s recipe? “Coach! Mazzu is a dad…”

This Monday evening in La Tribune, a special guest honored him with his presence. Anthony Morris, goalkeeper of Union Saint-Gilloise, took advantage of the two days off given by his coach to take the time to talk with the team on the show about the championship but also about the rest.

When Benjamin Deceuninck asks Anthony Moris what is the biggest difference with last year, the goalkeeper has no doubts: “We play a lot more with the public. This proximity to the supporters makes the difference in certain results.”

Anthony continues with the ranking of the team this season: “It’s a culture of winning that the Union has had for years. Match after match, we aim to have fun on the pitch, to do as much as possible, to create chances, to defend together and This is all that makes us have the good results, that we don’t take our heads off and that we continue to look up.”

The goalkeeper recounts one of the decisive turning points for the team. It was last year after a loss against LWDM (D1B): “We had a crisis meeting between players, a pizza party. The next match, against Lommel, we lost at half-time and in the end we won the match 4-2. It was the first match where we played in 3-5-2 and since then we have not left this system.”

Tactics, technique, team building, what is the real recipe for this team? “The recipe is the coach too. Felice handles all that very well. Tactically he is very, very strong. He manages to detect the opponent’s shortcomings very quickly. He is very careful with his group too. He is a dad. Whether it’s the starter or the little youngster, everyone is treated the same. That’s what makes 25 people get along so well and push each other on a daily basis.”
