Dominic Thiem has to postpone his return to the ATP tour again. Juan Martin Del Potro should make his comeback after a long period of suffering.
Thiem also canceled the planned start of his clay court season next week in Cordoba, Argentina. As the 28-year-old Austrian announced at a virtual media meeting, he suffers from a torn ligament between the fingers of his right hand.
Due to a protracted wrist injury on this same hand, the 2020 US Open winner has not contested a serious fight since last June. In the ATP ranking, the former world number 3 has therefore fallen back to 37th place.
Argentinian Juan Martin Del Potro is aiming to make his comeback at the home tournament in Buenos Aires next week. The 33-year-old from Tandil played his last game on the ATP Tour in June 2019 at the grass tournament in Queens. According to insiders, he is also reported in Rio de Janeiro.
Del Potro won the US Open in 2009 at the age of 20. Since then he has had health problems, mostly in his wrist or knee. The former world number three had a total of eight operations.
